EduCAN – The Velux Foundations support

Project: “EduCAN”

Project description:

Project continuously deepen activities of specialized training center in an area of prevention of violence committed on children and between children. For identification of children with CAN syndrome, professional intervention, prevention of secondary victimization and multidisciplinary cooperation. Violence committed on schools, violence on families, in society furthermore with growing and more brutal manifestations and tendencies shows for needs of prevention – especially primary prevention but also for needs for information and education of broad and professional public as well. Thanks to educational activities, which are basis for this project we try effectively change the power of „silent majority “for power of “receptive majority” who can be transformed for driving force of protection against violence.

Goals of the Project:

Regarding to children our ambition is to ensure systematic change in area of education of violence in pre-school age primary. Through the preventive program „Kozmo and His Adventures „even a small children may develop personality in a way that it can be nature for them to respect others and protect own rights the same time. This can be manifested in children behavior partially immediately once preventive program take place, but main changes can be observed from the long run perspective.

Regarding to professionals working with children our ambitious is to incorporate the preventive program into the educational system and introduce it more interactive way to further develop practical behavior.

Project Activities:

1/ education of children via education of professionals working with children;

2/ development of actual and future educationalist, teachers, social workers, police, psychologists in area of multidisciplinary cooperation in identification of children with syndrome CAN in order to avoid trauma and secondary victimization;

3/ trainings for future and actual teachers, police and social workers, generally professional working with children in area of specialized techniques of identification;

4/ supportive events and activities targeted for broader public.

THE VELUX FOUNDATIONS are comprised of the two philanthropic foundations VILLUM FONDEN and VELUX FONDEN. Among our grant areas are science, environmental, social and cultural purposes in Denmark and internationally. In 2018, the two foundations gave joint grants of approx. EUR  168 million.

Both foundations were established by graduate engineer Villum Kann Rasmussen – the founder of VELUX and other companies in the VKR Group, whose mission it is to bring daylight, fresh air and a better environment into people’s everyday lives.
